Real Art in an AI World

Let’s talk about images. Specifically, the minefield that is today’s visual world. Everywhere you look, there is a “pretty picture” that turns out to be a ripped-off AI composite of someone’s real artwork. It is exhausting, and it makes standing out as an indie author even harder.

When I create visuals for my books and brand, I go out of my way to support real artists. That means licensing photos, commissioning illustrators, and giving credit where it is due. It also means saying no to AI-generated art that steals from the people who actually make this community vibrant. I personally love iStock and have a subscription with them that has been so useful during this journey.

We cannot control what is trending online, but we can control the kind of art we choose to amplify. And I will always choose authenticity over convenience.
